How'd it go today?

Cool Jim. Stay focused. Today is my thirteenth anniversary. Gonna be riding to a nice beach a little later where we can take a dip with the horses. 8)

Most cowboys just take a dip from that little round can they carry in their back pocket. I guess if their horse wanted a dip too they would put a little pinch between its cheek and gum.

Happy anniversary. Nice that you guys made it this far and here's to the happiness that will never end.

Did my repairs to my F350. Dreading what's next.....

I'm back from my short sojourn to the czech republic.
Had a good time.
We drove up the Elbe river and found the quaintest ferry, I've ever come across.

Tied up with a REAL long wire in a bend of the river, it worked by changing the angle of the boat and having the current carry it across.
The landing ramps were connected by wire, so to lower it at one end, you simply jumped on it and the other end went up.
Neat.
We took it acroos the river, simply for the pleasure of doing it, then had a beer and went back :)

Had a lot of very good beer on this trip, in fact.

Went travelling in the North part of the country, hiked around in some fine forest and visited the largest natural sand stone arch in Europe.

Had quite a long hike up there, then found out that there was a road, where they let the tourist buses up.
What a tourist trap!

But it had one redeeming feature. Being Czech, they sold beer right underneath it.
Plus I got to wear the old SOTC t-shirt on yet another trip.

What a great trip, thanks for documenting, the wife and I are off on a cruise round the western med at the end of the month.

I'll be sure and share some pics.

Went to get fuel, noticed the F350 is hard shifting now into 2nd, overdrive light is flashing...... hope it's just a simple reset, not an internal repair... :(

MB,

It's damned tough to find a dump truck in good used condition. These things generally take a real beating. Hired help isn't very kind to property that belongs to someone else.

I've tried the used truck thingy. My old dump is still running, but it's 17 years old. Time to really spend some money on it......but again, it's 17 years old. What does a guy do?

The only solution I can come up with is to stop worrying about things and just do what needs to be done. I'll keep the old truck for those ugly jobs that a guy would never want to tackle with a new one.

Sometimes I go to the dealerships and sit in those things just to pretend for a few minutes. Then someone recognizes me and escorts me out knowing I'm just wasting their time. Nice truck.

MB,

With the prices they're asking for new vehicles these days (maybe I'm showing my age here), it's hard to justify giving the bankers so much money in interest payments. I figure I saved some coin on the 0% interest loan.

A truck that's only a couple of years old will still cost somewhere in the neighborhood of 45,000 bucks...plus interest.....and I hate bankers almost as much as lawyers and politicians.
