This was requested ... took a while, but finally got some time. So, FWIW:

<iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vMdXic3CI04" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Nothing new here and there are others ...

:)

Stupid me never thought of using the tail.

Wonder if bite of rope girth hitched around the stem into a loop would hold body weight.

As long as it cinches (as shown) ... held my 200# :)

Doubt it would hold on a negative tapered palm, though

Me either till just last week. Duane took a bight of rope from his tail, tied 2 half hitches around the trunk and stuck his foot in the hanging loop... duh. Here I am using a big whoopie sling the one day I am installing a rod, what a wasted effort that was.

Boy, I wish I could download videos...drip feed dial up here for three months...

Goto http://keepvid.com enter the youtube URL of the video you want to save, in this case: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=g32-heAsZYo , and click the download button to the right of the search box... DONT clcik the BIG green download box underneath, you will notice the small text labeling that a advertisement.

Once it processes it will give you a choice of 'download links', located under the advertisement on the left. I chose the " .mp4 " and it downloaded for me in seconds. It was only 13.6mb which is really small and the quality was fine.

I had never used it before today but it worked great!

Or just open the youtube video on a new tab and then hit the pause button. Then go back to what you were doing on the other tab. Check back in a bit and play it once it finishes downloading.

I was out for a while and got to thinking about your question. If you were on a slick stem, you could always take as many turns around the stem as you needed.

For those with dial-up:
The essence of the concepts (those shown and all the others) is to tie a big loop and girth the stem or limb or whatever ...

I like the second concept the best ... EZ on, EZ off ... EZ PZ ... and it's easily adjustable :)

True that, B ... I always carry two in my possibles bag. ;)

But, I was specifically asked to post a simple foot loop using the tail of the rope. So, here we are ... :)

And a perfect response it is...not meant to diss at all, Jack. We don't always have the foresight to have that possibles bag properly outfitted, and if we did it would be unmanageble in size and weight, no?

No diss taken ... {never typed that before} 8)

Again, you're right about the "unmanageble in size and weight" ... I got a truck FULL of possibles ... wouldn't get off the ground with that.

Thanks for the help on video stuff...

Great idea there Jack, I always have two loop slings on my belt but sometimes I have 8' or more to go up a little stem and bending down to get the sling, or hooking it out with my saw is a PITA...
