Of all that I've read/watched about, WWII holds a special place.
Despite what the Germans did -or stood for, I find them very intriguing. And though some ancient battles are extremely interesting to me, WWII seems more tangible due to its place in recent history. Without going into detail what I admired about Nazi Germany "-due to the fragile sensibilities of maybe a few here," I will say their intelligence is what I've found most appealing.
I've been to many Civil War battle spots, many. But it just didn't interest me a whole lot. And as the technologies of today's soldiers are incredible, to say the least, —they simply don't compare to what the scientist of Germany had discovered -and employed.
Again, I'm not siding with the political natures of, or the tragic results -because of. I just find it fascinating.
