Great article Guy. Let me guess they cut it down to fit into their magazine?

I know this is a derail, but how do you manage to continue working in the field (climbing/pruning) and doing consulting? I know plenty do, but I see a lot of blurry lines to be crossed (conflict of interests)? Just curious how some manage,

uh yeah; as good a guess as any. or maybe they wanted more white space under the images. :?

No conflicts of interest when scope and objective are defined. When consultation and spec writing are over I refer locals who can do the work, then switch hats (literally) and offer an estimate, if I want the work. Some consultants pride themselves on being 'pure' and do no contract work. But activity in the field makes one a more informed consultant, imho.
