I have several gator stories that go along with the "shot a hole in the bottom of my boat deep in the swamp" tale. Lots of scotch make the telling more fun that the reality ever allowed .

I got paid to move them from swimming pools and back yards, back out to the swamps, as a teenager. The old fart in charge said it was always better to put a "youngblood" out in front with the cable stick, "'cause you're faster, plus you don't have a wife nor chillin's yet" .

Dumb me, I bought it hook, line, and sinker.

Over my earlier years, those experiences earned me more than a few free beers in taverns from N. Carolina to New Hampshire to Texas to Oregon...and more than few spots in between.
