Adjustable bridge length using Hitchclimber pulley

Dave, thank you. I learned alot from you post.

i put this in the vt advice thread yesterday, but it seem more appropriate here. <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pO8jN6fi2R8?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pO8jN6fi2R8?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>

I like your system. I have tried similar techniques in the past but haven't been really impressed with the results mostly because the hitch didn't advance too good or would be out of reach till you got high enough to stand on a limb and slack out the system to retrieve the climbing hitch. Your system looks easy with no need for extra gear except for the acsender. I could easily adapt this into my present system.

I have no idea why I have been cruising the climbing threads. Guess I am bored or just looking for something new because I might be in for a bit of winter climbing unless we get some frozen ground conditions.

That is called an "O-Rig" as i have seen it explained on you tube:

I believe the intended advantage is that when brach walking and especially returning you can extend the hitch system away from your body and have a lengthened pull. This way when walking balk from a limb walk you can pull rope with both hands. There are a few videos of similar setups on youtube if you look.

Jamie's tweak with that snap, along with the general system, looks really slick for DdRT. I just don't find myself DdRT any more, but from what I can see, its worth spending a bit of time working out the little kinks in one's system with it.

ive been climbing on the system for a few months now and i really like it. we do a lot of big coast live oak and monterey cypress pruning, lots of limb walking and yo-yo climbing. as soon as i get a foot ascender i really want to try srt and see how i like it.
