I never knew that. I've always cranked them down as tight as I could get them. I noticed one thing today that it is harder to balance on really skinny spars when the strap is loose. Or at least I'm just not used to it yet. The spur wanted to move around a little under my boot, and it made me...
Just to give a quick update...I loosened off on the strap that goes around my foot and no more pain. They were just as comfortable if not more so than my old spurs. Funny how the smallest thing can make a huge difference.
Thanks for the advice. This is a habit that I need to start doing anyway. I am bad about walking back and forth from the truck to the tree with my spurs on.
I'm beginning to think that maybe they are. I followed the instructions for measuring before I ordered them, but the first time I put them on I noticed that they were shorter than my previous buckinghams.
I guess it would be the shank. since they are all one piece it doesn't really have a shank like traditional spurs. It is a very short shank before the pads start. The pressure is just a hair above where the pads start.
It sounds like my only option is more padding at the pressure point. This can be achieved by either higher boots, the soccer pads, or thicker pads on the Geckos (not even sure if you can get different pads for them). Does anyone see any other alternatives? I don't really want to sell them and...
I'm currently wearing about a 6" el cheapo boot from Wal-Mart, but I've never had any issues with my steel Buckingham's with big buck pads. I'm thinking a 9" boot might be the answer. I just hate that I spent that much on these spurs and now looks like I've got to spend even more to make them...
Got my Gecko CFs in the other day. Been itching to use them and finally got the chance yesterday on a post oak removal. My first impression is that I love how little they weigh, however they were very uncomfortable. They dug into my leg about 2-3 inches above my ankle. I never had any...
Thanks for the advice guys. I ordered the CF Geckos today. I pretty much had my mind made up before starting this thread, but wanted my decision to be reinforced.
I've been climbing on Buckingham steel climbers with big buck pads for as long as I have been climbing. I've been saving and am finally looking to purchase a new set of climbers. I'm looking at either the Stein X2 Aluminums, Gecko aluminums, or Gecko carbon fibers. I've been saving for a...
