In my opinon footlocking works best with 1/2" -13mm rope . It seems most climbers today have switched to the smaller diameter ropes where mechanical ascenders are a must. The hand grip on 1/2" and the heavier weight of the 1/2" through the climbers boots work alot better. BTW just got back...
