    I'm going to have to go back through this thread and make sure I'm being understood; I fear a misunderstanding has occurred...but at the moment, here's what I was trying to say: I don't like the idea of the SRT anchor set up so that the rescuer on the ground has to attach a seperate line...

    Me too...I'm with Pete on this one. I see zero advantage to that system.

    Or pitch the bejeezus out of a short section of rope in some conifers. That said, I just deal with cleaning it later, for the most part. One big advantage to SRT is not needing to isolate the crotch, so the only type I use in a case like this is the leather sleeve. It's a fair point, Jack.

    That's pretty golden, Cary. Just be sure you have enough rope below the 8 to get you to the ground. You might consider encorporating a prusik loop so the lowerer could leave the 8 unattended if need be, and the lowering would be backed up, too.
