Fundamental reasons pro chainsaws are better than less expensive saws?

I personally like working on 3-series huskies, 2-series huskies, Dolmar 6400-7900, and some of the pro model Stihls... 026, 036, 044/46, and 064/66. 5-series Huskies and some of the newer Stihls, I typically pass on to other people, along with clamshells of pretty much any brand. If I walked...

Fundamental reasons pro chainsaws are better than less expensive saws?

Not exactly true... Stihl makes homeowner saws and pro saws, just like Husky. If the crankcase is plastic, that's a sure sign that it's not a pro saw. A pro saw typically has better port work from the factory and they tend to be more powerful and weigh less than a similar sized homeowner saw...

    064 stihl

Dolmar 7900. An 066 top end is an easy swap. I modified my handle and made it into a 3/4 wrap that will clear the brake handle, but I believe the 660 3/4 wrap is the right angle to clear, as well. Here's a pic showing mine on the left and the stock 3/4 wrap on the right. Pretty easy to see why...

    new 70cc saw?

The Dolmars are strong runners in stock form, and just plain badass once ported. A muffler mod on a stock saw doesn't really do much for a 7900, though. The only difference between the 7900 and 7910 is the muffler, and the coil is limited to a bit lower RPM... 12,900 vs. 13,500 for the 7900...

    new 70cc saw?

Please explain how a Dolmar 7910 will fall apart. I'd like to see some actual evidence of that.

    new 70cc saw?

Dolmar 7910 would definitely be my choice, if I were buying a new saw. Great power and AV, easy to work on, reliable, and less expensive than Stihl or Husky.

    Time for a bigger saw

My vote for a 70cc saw is the Dolmar 7910. I have a 7900, and I prefer it over a 372 or MS440. Smoother and more powerful, with better handling. I've never ran a 441, 461, or 576, so I can't help with the comparisons to those models.

    cylinder porting

This is true for certain saws, the 359 Husqvarna being a good example. Removing the base gasket and opening up the muffler really wakes up a 359, but some saws it doesn't make much difference at all.

    cylinder porting

I believe that Mastermind will help you out with port timing numbers, if you ask him nicely... Just send him a PM. He's always been willing to help me out, and even sent me a ported cylinder to replace one that someone else ported and turned out to be junk, and didn't charge me a dime for it.
