    Small Cable Yarder

It's not a Forestry Commission site by any chance, is it? They've got a great track record of taking rare habitat and covering it with non-native monocultures.

    Luner landing a hoax?

They've just been talking about the moon landings on the radio here; many non-Americans who helped make it all possible thought it was supposed to be an international mission... Besides, I think you'll find the USSR were first on almost every other milestone til then, plus a few...

    Jonsered Iron Horse

Thanks, magnus, for the info. We had a demo today. Loading a log looks like an acquired skill, which the demo guy didn't really have, as he didn't seem that used to the machine. Having said that, we managed to drag a half ton log around anywhere the operator could go, through brambles, over...

    Jonsered Iron Horse

So... I'm still interested in how much one of these iron horses might shift; i've seen studies where they reckon on 1.5-2 cubic metre per standard hour, based on a 100 metre/yard distance (google tells me that's 650-850 board ft / shr; btw, a standard hour allows for rest, other work etc)

    Jonsered Iron Horse

Yes, I've been following that thread. Looks like it's been working pretty well. can't see it working on my site as it's woodland and the WRC is only 10-20%, and it's not on that scale at all..about 50 tons/ha to come out.

In answer to Thor, Yea, it's a SSSI, a bit steep here and there, and gets pretty soft from mid Autumn. The job's been to fell the Western Red Cedar, but now they think it will never rot, so want it out. There's loads of other stuff I could use it for, but it needs to pay the finance! I see my...

    Jonsered Iron Horse

Does anyone run one of these? I hear a lot of people say they're quite good for what they are, but I'd be interested to know how much you could typically shift in a day. I've asked the bloke who posted this video, but I don't know if he'll understand English, and I can't speak Swedish! <object...

    Who's watching the Twenty20 cricket?

The 20/20 version's massive now, especially in India. It throws up some odd results..we got hammered by the Dutch, yet managed to beat pakistan! It's Holland v Pakistan starting in 20 mins, so good chance of another upset

The best movie link on the internet!

That tv links site has got the film withnail & I on it. If you don't need to see a car chase or explosion or gunfire every 5 minutes, it's a very funny film.
