    The Official Work Pictures Thread

I couldn't see the TIP as being useful for climbing or pulling. Though white oak is strong, its still oak, which splits easy if force is applied to small crotches. I had a white oak do that to me on a rigging point.

Dedicated stump grinder vs skid steer with grinder attachment? Pros and Cons?

I've rented a "40hp" mini skid with a sort of permanent grinder attachment. I didn't like it. The wheel would stall easily while hardly loading the engine, and it would bounce bad as if the attachment was on a hinge. I'd get a dedicated grinder with green teeth unless you rarely grind stumps.

What Did Ya'll Have For Dinner Tonight?

Have you tried Melinda's ghost pepper sauce? It's pretty good flavor wise, and not quite as spicy as a fresh habenero.

    Whats blooming?

All I asked is if he put any of those flowers in his pocket. Not my problem if you interpret it with bathroom humor. Pics from my crap phone camera. It's incredible what camera tech is capable of on new phones. Imagine what they could do if they made a "smartphone" that was 100% camera.

    How'd it go today?

What does he eat? Too much sugar or oil or even caffeine can cause problems. He might try something simple like 100% meat and water, maybe fresh figs as well.

    How'd it go today?

It's a combination of no catalytic converter and running rich. I don't know how lean you can run a big engine at idle, because leaner will decrease the duration of high cylinder pressure, and it decreases the overall exhaust volume to a certain extent.

    The Official Treehouse Articles Thread

I don't "dig" people.com. The safest part of a plane generally is the back since you have more time to slow down and have a path cleared through trees and stuff by the rest of the plane in front of you.

    Stahl's logging supplies

It just depends on the hardness of the steel you cut vs the hardness of your saw chain and the chain speed, feed rate, and sharpening angles. I was testing a saw and saw a knot in the dryish white oak I was cutting, and sure enough felt some chatter. It was a harder knot than usual, but not...

    How'd it go today?

I prefer solder to prevent corrosion and fill air gaps, but it's also good to crimp especially if you need to make sure the connection hangs on as long as possible in the case that the joint overheats. I hate low melting point insulators. Silicone rubber is great other than its lack of...

    milling thread

Eventually gravel gets either broken down into muddy fines, or it sinks below the mud, and you get stuck. I had the chip trucks dump on some land I knew had a gravel path, but they got stuck because the gravel had sunk 2-3" below the surface.
