So all you saw gurus. Look at this bad picture of a piston and give me your 2 cents!!! 1.jpg

The worst scratch is between the 2 reflections but you can hardly see it.

If you look at the piston, there is a pin right where the "dings" are, it's there to keep where the ring meets together from moving so it could hang on one of the port openings. The "dings" are grooves that are cut into the ring so it can fit around that pin tightly.

Well, thank you for the explanation. I have seen before how the rings are split...that helps understand how they keep them from moving around.

This Wraptor was returned as the "clutch was slipping". The clutch wasn't slipping , it would pick me up but seemed weak. It wouldnt pick me and my son up which it should easily. The gas when returned looked very clear. So I polished out those scratches and then ran it for about half an hour at half throttle and now it will pick me and my wife up!!

I agree with Andy on the scratches, but the upper ring does look a bit dinged up or cracked to the right of the locator pin. A little clearer here. Rings are cheap if that one is at all damaged and susceptible to breaking.. A broken ring will do serious damage to p and c, generally not something that can be buffed out. Are you sure that ring isn't broken? A ring doesn't generally sit tight against both sides of the locator pin when expanded. Something appears weird.

Pop the rings out and use a fingernail file to remove the burr on the ring groove .If you sand the piston a little bit it should be okay providing it hasn't deposited "tramp aluminum "onto the cylinder .FWIW a little lowspot on a piston skirt won't normally hurt you too much .On the opposite a high spot can hurt you bad because it breaks the surface tension of the oil film .
