I looked at this tree today. Each leader has 2-4 vines on it (maybe English ivy) between 2-3” in diameter. It would have to be climbed to make felling fit. I estimated a 50-75% increase in time due to the vines. There is also the added danger.

It would be potentially hazardous sinking spurs around and in the Ivy. I couldn’t trust a set climb line because I can’t see the tree. All the vines would have to be removed before a chunk could be dropped. I can’t fully inspect the tree.

The vines could always be cut and we could remove the tree in 2 years and may be able to “easily” release the vines.

Do you believe the extra time estimate is correct?

"Vines: The Most Dangerous Thing in the Woods"

Vines are time consuming, and they seem to take longer to deal with than first impressions give. I like the cut and wait strategy if the client's ok with that. Every piece you drop you will have to ensure will be predictable. Very few to no connections to neighboring limbs. Plus side, is the tree looks healthy from what I can see in the pics. Looks like everything's budding nicely.
