I’m certified ISA. Production climber and operator 7yrs.
I’m striving to become more proficient at my tree ID’s
-Looking for suggestions on books/courses to beef up my knowledge that are tried and true.
Located in Boston (NE trees)

For purely ID purposes, the Audubon field guides are nice. Good pictures that show what's necessary to make an ID. That's more for native tree though, and won't necessarily show the weird stuff people put in their yards.

Leaf being the easiest yet it's seasonal , Bark and Silhouette work year round .... then there's Twig , the (very) small Bible that's the go to is called "The Winter Tree Finder" , structured as a flow chart

2 items for you:

The first is a plant ID app that is rad.

The second is a tree bark ID book for the NE that I like. Btw 'Winter Tree Finder' sounds good with the flowchart idea

Posting up here on MB's thread what could be, imo, one of the most useful apps a tree pro can have.

Its a plant ID photo app that works 3 seconds after you take a pic of the plant in question.

It's mad fun to use it more or less all day long, OTJ, at the park, at home etc.

So great to get clarity on all those plants you were hazy on re ID.

And confirm those you were pretty sure but not positive you knew.

If y'all already knew about this, well dang I'm late to the party.

But if this is new to ya, It be a game changer.

Enjoy.
