splice failure

A few days ago we dismantled a phoenix palm dead from red weevil.
The top rigging strop splice moved out of place almost 1", after abrasion making sure it took the safety stichting, not very heavy loads, but a bit of dinamic shock in a very small drop.
Would the splice end up undoing itself if we load it more times ( less cycles to failure ) ?

A slipped splice is a failed splice. It's possible it could be reset, but cutting it off and resplicing is better logic.
 
I think strength would be compromised, an inch of pullout is bound to be most of the full diameter burry.
