So my Facebook decided I needed to see the latest alternative for off road vehicle self recovery. The advertisement makes it sound so light and useful! They act like it’s a new idea. And maybe it is in their world. I have no idea. I have two wheel drive, low ground clearance and I stay on the pavement if I can help it.

yeah, I looked into these, and soft shackles, they have been around in the 4x4 community for some years now, and I think they got the idea from yachting circles.
Again, set up for 1/2" dyneema on winch setups, good ideas as less mass when snatching etc, but the radius was quite tight, and they didnt make them larger for larger ropes.
I tried my local boating shops in the city for the larger ones, but again, the ones made for tree work seemed better thought out, better radius, more options for our sized ropes etc.

You are spoilt for choice over in the states and the UK, pretty hopeless in Australia, you can get them, but you pay for them.

Dont get me started on rigging blocks prices over here, even in NZ the notch 16mm is well over 100 cheaper than what it can be got here.
