I did however shoot my sister from the hip,in the leg on the back of a motorcycle once at 100 yards, she became a lawyer,I should'a aimed higher:roll:
I also shot my best friend with a shotgun, twice,He shot me first so I figure we're even.

Are you the poster child for the gun control lobby?:lol::lol::what:

Well that didn't take very long for them to grab another boat ,now they have a greek boat , how are there sharpshooters ?

I heard that there are towns on the coastline with bars and whore houses for the pirates to hang out , you've got to be kidding, I guess somalians really like Jack Sparrow..

Put .50 caliber machine guns port, starboard, fore and aft on ALL commercial vessels, and have a select crew onboard to operate them.

Problem solved. :drink:

50 cal seems reasonable

It makes good sense to arm cargo ships in hostile waters . That would make them thing twice with a burst of tracers coming in across the bow from half a mile away . It might get their attention even more if it were a pair of twin mount 5" 38's .:|:

still my personal fave, the anti everything gun...

and for pirates in bigger boats? dare I suggest:

Cargo ships, maybe. But remember that super tanker they hijacked a few months ago? You want to get into a fire fight sitting on top of a couple million barrels of crude?

Those big tankers and such don't have enough people on board to protect every possible scaling point. Just a few guys have to cover a lot of area, whatever weaponry they carry.

If no one would negotiate with them, if they never got paid a ransom, if every man's hand was against them and every nation on earth sought their destruction there would not be much incentive to continue committing acts of piracy.

Not like the pirates are attacking with much anyway.. Small weapons on fishing boats for the most part. It has been let go and gone too far. Should have sank them from the get go. Would have really deterred them IMHO.

Frig that.

Fire at will. :drink:

Easy problems get solved and don't make it to the news. I think the situation is trickier than folks give it credit for.

Difficult problems often have simple solutions but simple solutions are often too hard for some people to accept.

Escorts would be great, but somebody has to pay for that, either increased cost of goods or tax payers dollars. Arming the ship and crew has major ramifications on a ships ability to rapidly enter and exit ports and waters of foriegn countries. Once armed, they are no longer subject to the benefits of free passage. In the end, time is money. My neighbor is in the merchant marine, we were discussing the very subject today.

I'm assuming the shipping companies could pay. Their insurance paid to equip the pirates. Now they can fund the other side also.

I wonder if fighting makes more sense dollar-wise for insurers? If there are gun fights people get injured and the cargo and the ship could get damaged. All of which mean bigger pay outs.
