Shady business and corruption on the government level regarding LPR's & similar cameras.

Any camera connected to the internet (Ring cameras) can have it's data shared with centralized AI to identify plates, cars, people, faces, pets, behavior patterns, ect.

Cameras aren't the problem, connecting them all to the internet and AI is. They used to be closed circuit recording to local hard drives, or only accessible to a small area (home, business, mall, city, DOT, ect).

Tough question. I assume reflective tint on windows on top of IR absorbing coating, and either face mask or a face shield with the same coatings, but then you stand out just by wearing weird stuff. Light altering coatings on licence plates is probably illegal.

Get enough people riled up against the cameras might work. Some cities have removed them by vote, though I don't know if those cities required big box stores to take down their cameras, which are basically part of the same AI surveillance network.

The backstory:

Steffman retired from the police department last November. His departure followed an arrest when he was accused of stalking, harassing communications, and multiple counts of misuse of automated license-plate readers.
