Does the piece need rigged away, or can it drop? Looks like a pretty straightforward snapcut scenario, maybe a little notch.I need to bring this discussion back to life.
I am slowly learning as I remove a large hackberry with several leaning leaders. Fortunately there are high tie in points. Still a challenge for me as I have little experience with leaners or gaffs. I tried on top and underneath… and then reinvented the wheel and got my best results on the side. I have several strong triangles from high tie in, spurs and alternating flip lines. I am slide-lining my wood to clear my neighbors pine trees— and my driveway. This is the leader I am working on. So far I took of all the suckers and then the foliage growing near the upper end.
