With my gear I prefer Steel over Fiberglass ... but they are both quite doable safely

Flagpole slings from 1944 Ashley book of knots. apparently not a much better way invented in the last 75 years. Is the guy dripping paint or seriously scared?

Probably just paint , better too much on the brush than not enough ... just like Trees , eventually it isn't scary most times

When I was working for this hotel I had to climb up onto the cupola of the bell tower a d free the the flag hoisting rope that was jammed in the pulley so we could change out the flag. I was able to get a tree climbing line around the base of the flag pole and tie off like I would on a tree. I then was able to just hip thrust my way up to the flag pole. Easy peasey. This is a pic of me rappeling off the roof of the same hotel to hang Christmas garland on the balconies. Fun fun fun. By the way that is the same hotel where Stephen King got the inspiration to write The Shining. 😱
