Me and Lou went on a paddle last night, scoping some trees on the north side of the lake she lives on.

Since I had to do a small job yesterday, we did not get back to her place in time to do a climb.

This am, we decided after breakfast to head over and get high ;)

We found a nice sugar maple in brilliant fall colours and got some lines in it.

I had her and I do a bounce test on my TIP, the i rigged and climbed it.

About 10 feet under the TIP, I had a sick feeling; the TIP we had tested was dead as shit!:O

lol

I quickly scooted to the trunk, climbed the tree the rest of the way, re-installed my tip and was good to go.

I got her line in and she came up to join me.

We had another cool Ontario creature encounter.

A flying squirrel popped around the limb about 3 feet from me, he scampered up the tree about 10 feet and launched to another tree about 25 yards away; it was the coolest thing!

I had never seen one in the wild in all my 25 years of bowhunting.

And this one FLEW, ( well glided, but it was cool anyways)8)

here are some pics, was a good deal.

back to work climbing this week, but hopefully we will have more fall rec- climbs.

I had two sibling flying squirrels that I kept in a 90 gal fish tank. It was a pretty cool set-up, except they spent most of the time hiding. They'd come out at night and make the highest pitched sounds that I've ever heard. It took me a while to figure out it was them doing it.

They were like Mindy, cute as all get out!
