I would assume that the coolness of the tubing causes soot to stick to it. Wood in the round no matter the diameter always seems to hold some moisture for some reason.

That looks so cool. Love to have that

Going to clean my flu pipe for the first time this season. Should be pretty good since this is probably the best seasoned wood I’ve ever burnt. 2 years split and stacked. Some day I’ll get around to installing a furnace but I’m going another winter with out the ease of turning a thermostat dial...

I’ve turned into a wood snob in the last few years. Primarily oak and cherry with a bit of maple anymore. Ash was nice for years here but is hard to find now. When I do it’s usually too far gone to bother with. Once in a while I’ll get some locust or hickory as well

    Wood stove heat

We are currently in the temps at night where the fire is nice. Daytime is to warm still. My wife let it get way too warm today. I came home and had to open windows. I was sweating as I ate my ice cream🥵

Fired mine up last night for the first burn of this season. I tried to hold out till November first but the low temps in the 20’s wouldn’t stay away

That’s what worries me. I might be replacing both door gaskets soon enough. I also need to get a new stove pipe thermometer. One with the probe to tell me the actual flue gas temp. I stuck my old one on the new pipe and it still gets up to almost 200*F on the outside. I checked all the collars...

    Wood stove heat

My wood burning furnace is back up and running after I replaced the chimney this weekend. Picked a good time to do it actually. This warm weather was nice since I heat primarily with wood. This stainless double wall drafts a lot better than the old clay lined masonary chimney did. I’ve gotta...

Wood burner is doing its job here. Of course the cold snap gave it a work out but today hit 50+ so now I’ve got it burning slow with some windows open

Still to warm in Ohio for the wood burner. I’ve got at least a month and a half. Hopefully two. Now the outdoor fire pit is getting a lot of use. I light it at least 3 nights a week and chill for an hour or so

No burr in this house. Plenty warm.

    Wood stove heat

I use my stove pipe thermometer a lot. Primarily I watch it in the morning as I fire up for the day. Get the chimney good and hot but with in reason with out guessing.

I am reading this and am almost laughing. I've been thinking the same thing. I'm sitting here in my boxers with the door open to the garage and my living room window open watching a movie. Got my beer on the window sill so it doesn't get warm to fast:hotsun:

This seems to be my burden to bare. For some reason many 80+ year old women love me. Damn these ruggedly handsome good looks!:D

    Wood stove heat

I might of had some of that once. I did a job for a late middle age chech woman and her mother. I'm not sure what mom was saying but I wasn't gonna leave without taking a drink with her. Within minutes I realized I needed someone else to drive the truck back to the shop. Good stuff. I just...

Off the top of my head I seem to think it's an energy king. Not sure of the model. I'll check tomorrow as everything is quiet around here now

    Wood stove heat

I put a thermometer on my stove pipe finally. I can't keep in the 230-475 range with out keeping my house way to warm. I've decided my wood burner is to big for my tiny little house. It's not all that cold out yet but my attached garage is 70 degrees and I have the kitchen windows open right now.

I let them cool in a metal bucket and then use a push spreader to disperse them on my road. Help out the township a bit since I have a bridge right against a RR crossing.

Kevin that hits so close to home at the moment. My wife wants chickens. My neighbor has them and brings us at least a dozen eggs a week. All I have to do now is feed and water when they go out of town. Why would I want my own? And I agree with Paul. I work a lot of hours. When I split firewood...
