    Wood stove heat

With the price of heating oil here, I save 5-6000$ a year by using wood. Good to think of when standing by the splitter.

Logging for sure. Especially bucking big hardwoods, where you lift the saw over shoulder height a lot.

I just bought my apprentice a GoPro, I'll see what he can do. I quit messing with videos a while back.

Amazingly well. Considering that the orthopedic surgeon who went walkabout in it with a camera said that in his opinion, I shouldn't be able to walk, I'm doing fine. It does hurt sometimes and I use the other leg on the planting spade, but all in all I'm good. Sometimes when we do warm up...

Everything is forwarded and chipped. We've got a slew of powerplants converted to bio fuel. I always laugh when you guys write about paying to get rid of chips/logs. I sell mine for good money.

Sean, they say that the type of Oak we have here benefits from rain wash. I can't really say. It does need to dry out for 2 summers , so most people don't want it for firewood. Beech is the preferred here, so it costs a bit more than the other hardwoods. I never pay full price for my wood...

    Wood stove heat

I have central heating via a wood burning furnace. Heats everything, even the hottub. Then we have a woodstove because it is nice and cosy to sit in front of a fire. So for an old farmhouse, 30 m3 is about par for the course. Folks who only have a stove will typically use a third of that.

Well, who the Hell can figure those cords out. I mean, even Americans can't. 30 cubic meters

I'm always 4 years ahead ( When I don't go into chemo or fall down stairs!) firewood is stacked 2 years outside and then two in the shed. My wood is DRY when I use it.

Yup! I can burn coniferous wood in my furnace, no problems, I just have to adjust the setting, so the blowers adds more air. With enough air and heat, any wood will burn clean. ( Unless it is soaking wet, of course!)

It is always there and I can't see it, so I'll just have to take the manufacturer's word for it. The stove is designed in Denmark but manufactured in Slovakia. My furnace, which is the best I've ever come across, in many years of wood burning furnaces, is made in the Czech republic.

Sorry, missed that one. Yes there is. It burns very clean, which is a requirement here. I wasn't exactly trolling, when I posted pictures of it, but I was really looking forward to seeing what Americans would make of it. Design and look- wise, it is very much modern Scandinavian, which is...

Close to 400 pds. We have recently got some very strict rules about wood stoves. With 6 million people in a small country, air pollutuion is something to watch out for.

    Wood stove heat

It has an interesting feature: when you put new firewood on top of embers, you pull a handle that opens fully for the primary air. It closes automatically after a while. So you get the new wood burning, instead of smouldering. Factory setting is 6 minutes, but it can be adjusted to fit one's...

    Wood stove heat

Well, I've been tired of my crappy old woodstove for a while. I originally bought it as a cheap backup for the wood burning furnace/central heating, but my wife loves to sit in front of it and bask in the heat radiation. So I bought a new one and we set it up today. It is made from concrete...

    Wood stove heat

Lovely. Does having the whole house at a perfect temperature ( too hot for me , but perfect for the mail order bride and the dog) and being able to run a hottub of the system count. We do have a stove for those really cold days ( which we never see, since the climate has gone to Spain) or for...
