Walked that walk Deva - I put on 14lbs when recovering and then got even bigger when I built muscle back. Exercise never felt better when I started again 👍

Proper Arb work for a change today, breaking the monotony of wrecking out endless dying ash trees. 2m reduction of an oak with amazing views of Robin Hoods Bay, a popular tourist destination.

This is how it is done. 👍 Try and keep your arms straight ish too - if you have bent elbows and you get shock loaded then the “snap” of your arms straightening will bloody hurt and I guarantee you will drop the rope.

Really nice and very similar to the one I made. Wish I had put some metal mesh under it as the moles are hard to shift when they move in !

@stig do you find that infected ash trees are more susceptible to Armilliaria ? I ask as on another I did some edge trees and most of them were infected, mushy and falling over.

I am having a day off today, after a two week job harvesting ash trees with dieback and as usual they are on a steep bank and oversized for the machines. After not having cut timber since last September I have been sleeping well on a night 🙃 What made things even more interesting, was the fact...

Been a while since I saw that Stig - funny but shite accents. The accent I remember as a kid is all but dead. Diluted by the modern world. if anyone is bothered, I found this poem about my home town Huddersfield, in the dialect I grew up with. Sadly I had to loose it after moving away as I might...

We banned the nicitinoid pesticides here in the UK a few years ago & I can happily report that the insect populations are increasing again. The big worry is that Monsanto etc are lobbying government to re-introduce them. People need to care a little less about money and a little more about the...

I think I get a saw trapped a couple of times a week (where I need to cut it out) - depends on what I am cutting though, as when I was cutting young beech trees last year it seemed like every 10 minutes 😆

Sounds like you need a scotch Burnham, to mull over your less than smart move. Really pleased that the chemo is going well Stig 👍

They are called pan tiles. Locally popular - I presume due to the lack of slate or suitable stone to quarry

Worked at the coast today, really popular little spot called Runswick bay. Historically it was a fishing village, now it’s just full of holiday homes with just a single permanent resident. View was outstanding, however clearing scrub and ivy off a 70 degree slope is not that much fun...

Agreed - a good read and an interesting perspective Re the oakman/eucman thing. I think I have swung between them both a t different parts of my career depending on situation. Running a small company now I'm more of an oak man, but I do keep the euc man close to hand to "get it done" when needed 😎
