No real way around that. I wash mine roughly quarterly, with the four times clustered tighter around the warm weather season. I use water, and Dr Bronner soap to wash it. Massage into the textiles, especially the sweat band. Rinse and air dry thoroughly. When you're finished wearing the helmet...

It would be a little fiddly, but you could hitch a ring above the unit for a cradle throw. Might even be able to put a ring on the unit itself, but that would be somewhat destructive.

I noticed that also. I cradle throw 90%+ of the time, and I wasn't excited seeing their solution, but it isn't something I've ever tried, so I reserved judgement. Glad to hear it worked well for you.

I tried this once on a locust. It didn't work. The slot the throwline was in was too deep, and rope wouldn't ride up.

I like the honkin' big bumper. It's a nice platform that can turn into anything you like. Once I was done pissing myself off by beating my legs on it, I think I could get a lot of use out of it. The winch is icing on the cake.
