Went to look at this guy today. Owner was thinking some type of cottonwood. I some what agreed By looking at the bark. Leaves don?t quite resemble what I?m used to seeing tho. Kinda lost on it. Only cottonwoods I?ve ever seen were huge and 150 ft tall

Yea didn't really match up to how a sourwood typically looks. Doesn't help that it's been topped and hacked up in the past

Confirmed the tree was a sourwood "Oxydendrum arboreum". Homeowner found some leaves and remains of flowers in a flowerbed from last year. His x brother in law planted the tree years ago. I agree. I've just been busy. Bought a trailer, chopped up a trailer, then rebuilt it lol. Finally said to heck with hunting a mentor to learn the trade under. Done 5-6 removals. Turned down at least that many. Taking it slow and staying away from what I'm not comfortable with or equipped...

Haven't been on here in what seems like forever. Any ideas on what this tree is. It stumped me as well as a 40 year timber buyer and my father as well didn't think to take any pics of the buds or twigs. Beautiful red autumn leaves is about all the info I've gotten from home owner. And...
