Guess how much this dried up half hollow crust weighs. While I was up at @huskihl ’s we got a couple inches of rain. Closed freeway, damaged RR trestle, lake in the desert, flooded my wood dump…

Thanks for the reminder about Ace. The dead one above won’t hinge at all being dead in the desert so long I don’t think. The desert is the thing…they just snap. I have an 8k hitch mounted winch with synthetic line that I haven’t used yet. Not long enough for big trees I don’t think…unless one...

Attractive nuisance for human, bird, and animal waste in organic fields. Seems a shame to me…but also a good challenge and experience. It’s also just kind of out there by itself sucking up water…not shading or wind breaking or anything.

Beans, all my pics are sideways and I’m too lazy to spin ‘em. Don’t get a kink in your neck…couple better pictures of Hollow…and a pic of me with some uneducated person’s work with jacks…

Jacking would be easier than getting a cable up in a tree...but dry euc doesn't hinge.

I have not yet, but I could. I usually hook Big Green and her winch up. (2) M35A2 Big Leaner - YouTube 8-9' DBH, 26' Circ.

These 7 leaning over the road need to be back felled. The second one that’s dead is a bout 6’ DBH. Wish it wasn’t getting hot…

I think too much lean or pull would contribute to collapse. I don't think I'd need a pull on mine. Euc is stronger than cottonwood but a bit brittle and very heavy (weight of tree above stump). Another option would be to fell from lift about 12' up where it's solid. What do you think @gf beranek ?

Yes, I think it could be faced and felled in the direction of lean.

When it’s green it cuts relatively easily and smells good if you like eucalyptus. When it’s dry it’s not as fun.

Pretty hollow. Little house in the bottom…burned. Walls are 1-2’ thick.

I know euc is known for warping and cracking when drying but there is a mill in SD that says they have it down.

It would be a just for fun deal. Out taking video of it now. You’d be welcome to many board feet…

I was thinking it would be pretty fun/epic to fell it…but also sketchy being hollow and so much limbs/foliage. Will probably be next winter, thinking to put a gtg together. @gf beranek I don’t know. I know red river gum (fork close to the ground) and blue gum (seem to be more pole like with...
