Yep, I guess my trial of Archer has come and gone. Stihl or Carlton etc from here on, which btw is what I normally use, I'd run out of loops for the 201. Yeah if that unabused and relatively young chain had broken in a critical cut, that could be very bad. Fug dem chinga chits.

I tried to find out what chinga means, no luck!

The last time I ordered some 16" chains for my 201, I got chisel chain (square corner, round filed) from Arbsession, chain made by Archer who I've never heard of. The good news is the chisel cut like crazy compared to the chipper chain I'm used to (rounded corner, round filed), the bad news is...

I can totally appreciate these 3 posts and they're interesting but they also sound too much like the strong streak of penny wise/pound foolish in me. Aside from the learning aspect and being able to make a worn out bar work if I was stuck on a desert isle, I don't think it is worth it. Imma just...

I don't have a rail closer. For a small bar like that, seems sensible to just buy new.

So, my everyday 201 runs like a beast, I take good care of it, keep it constantly sharp and clean and maintained. It's 2-3 years old iirc. The chain started dishing badly despite the teeth and rakers looking perfect. I was perplexed. I had a brand new 16" 201 bar so on a whim I installed it. I...

Very cool device, I like the looks of it! I usually file my power pruner about twice/year but I had to file again this weekend after doing the weighted-chain thing about 2 weeks ago. Happy to report it worked very well again- quick, easy, effective.

Definetly not for one of them. Combination of doesn't know there's a problem and doesn't GAF. Now that I think about it, he's the main culprit. The other one is more open minded and better about most everthing.

Gary, the weight in the pic was 15lbs, I bumped it up to 20lbs for more chain tension and it worked a treat, as our euro friends might say

Hey MB, that last post was vintage YOU! :dude: Hey yo, oldie but goodie thread here. Anywho I'm posting re filing my power pruner- it's real long and cumbersome so filing the chain attached to the device is a pita, but it is of course possible. Right now, I have the bar and chain off and...

Isn't it amazing when you get those chains that look like they would cut horribly due to uneven cutters yet they cut great, for who knows why??
