Long may she serve you! Ours has been flawless, most dependable saw in the fleet. Time for a new chain cover, though.

Hey, we're still rolling with a 200T, 201T, HT-133, and an 880 Magnum. So consider us a "checkered flag" -- orange and putty gray for the win!

Thanks for the advice, but we have our 346 in the shop but are seriously thinking of trading it in on a 3rd 550 (used) that the dealer just got in. I think it'll be good to have 3 good, fresh general purpose saws and if one went down, we'd have parts to cannibalize. That and our 2nd lemony...

Broke out the reserve 550XP that we've been holding onto, since the other 550GXP was having starting/coil issues when hot. Had bought this one on eBay as "used" but it was totally brand new, not even fuel in the tank. I think it's become my favorite saw -- great power to weight ratio, good for...

All the Rope / No Rope engravings make me smile. How about pictograms instead? Love the ones on the chipper of stick figures being dragged in, the one on the bucket truck of a stick figure being electrocuted, etc.

Expensive! Our 4 x 40' high cubes were not much more than that. We just had a friend with a 30,000 lb. forklift come out yesterday and set them as foundations for a poly tunnel building we will be setting up (workshop/paint booth). New to us orchard ladder from a city parks dept. Stokes 16' in...

Good advice, Brian -- we roll with lighted whips on our chipper so it can be seen behind our big ol' 30 yard truck.

Surely "flat" is a relative term. Even 1-2" (2.5-5cm) would be sufficient to begin an undercut with a bore cut. $1200 for wheel chocks and beech propping, not a bad investment, I'd say!

I've heard the 462s are good for propping up beeches as well, good if you need to start an undercut without risking hitting the ground. Just a small investment so you don't risk dulling your chain.

200T is back from the shop -- new carb and lines courtesy of our saw shop that we have on probation. But it's still cutting out at high RPM. Maybe a line coming unseated? Finally obtained an orchard ladder that's been on the list for over a year now. Found on a PurpleWave auction. Now just need...

Or a table saw if you want perfectly parallel edges, and a consistent uniform end product. You could set the width of the fence to your chosen wedge, then just rip the cutting board down to the proper width. I've ripped cutting boards down before for restaurant equipment. The HDPE cutting boards...

Likewise. August & Reg have the right idea. Loved the chaps + shorts idea. Great for a typical Missouri River valley summer day here -- 90s, 90% humidity.

Cory, glad you're back! I always thought GF was shorthand for "girlfriend" ;) Yes, thought the better of the Vizr after looking at our climber's scratched up one (but wondering if Brasso wouldn't take them out, as with headlight lenses). Going to go with the Husqvarna forestry screen instead...

The main thinking is resale value: since this is definitely a stepping stone/building block purchase, probably will flip it in a year or two, then there's the potential customer perception of using worn-out equipment. There's a few rag tag treecos around here with a mix of aging equipment and...

I would take an Asplundh orange bandit in a heartbeat. But the truck? Maybe it's just the UV fading and clear coat dulling that really does it in for me. It's crying out for a new coat of white!

Thanks! We were very hesitant at first, not wanting to look like we were reliant on Asplundh castaways, but it was a good price point even factoring in a paint job -- lower miles than many others, ready to work, no issues with the Altec boom. Got new mirrors on it ($600 for the set!), so it...

Three Bucketeers Okay, just to prove that I'm not just talk -- here's some photos of the "new" bucket truck. Obviously you can guess from which company we obtained it... Painting it is high on the list, probably white. GMC 7500 TopKick, all gas, including the Kubota pony motor. 60' boom...
