    How'd it go today?

I bought some cheap stuff at the local drug store called 'Oral Pain' by Red Cross. A bottle of liquid, a small box of application pads and a tiny pair of tweezers all in a bubble pack hanging on a display hook. It doesn't last very long but it will numb the crap out of whatever you put it on.

I agree with you on the orange bottle Stihl mix oil. But the silver bottle synthetic is excellent oil. I have used Stihl synthetic for many years in all my ported saws and even after 10-12+ years my saws have excellent compression and run as good as they did when new.

Hydrostatic drive on tractors/loaders is awesome. I've driven Kubota 520 and 530 loaders with the forward/reverse lever on the side of the steering wheel area. Flip it up and down like a turn signal. I much prefer the setup on my Avant with two pedals, one forward and one reverse. That way I...

Before 2019 it was just called the flu. I guess the flu doesn't exist any more, now when we get a winter cold it is automatically 'covid'.

I may actually get to fly a bucket again tomorrow. Have a removal leaning over power lines to do with the company who took over all my old clients. Hired a guy to bring his bucket and clear the lines. He's a nice guy but not a great tree guy. If I can talk him into letting me fly the bucket I...

It is a standard 2" ball hitch. Once you drop it on the ball you squeeze the coupler together and slide the spring loaded coupler ring forward, locking it in place. Davey had those on the chippers when I worked there 30 years ago.

If I may offer one piece of advice which I hope you take, but I'm afraid you won't. When your mouth digs you into a hole, the very first rule is to STOP DIGGING!

I've been using the same brake controller for 10-15 years, bought at least a half dozen for different vehicles. From a F150 to a 32,000 lb bucket truck, they all had this exact same brake controller and they all have been flawless. Best part is you mount it, plug it in and it works. No...

A lot of guys are slow, it hasn't been a great year. And I don't have a very big customer base as I just bought my loader 2 years ago and started from scratch. We never had any severe weather this year, not even the typical summer afternoon thunderstorms. I was only averaging 3 days per week in...

    How'd it go today?

A week or two ago I made a post on Facebook basically begging for work and asking all my local friends to share it. I ended up getting messages from 3 different people that night and they all sounded promising. Last night I finally got a call from one of them and I worked all day today (first...

My very first bucket truck was an old 1988 Altec AM50 that I bought 20 years ago. I had leakdown issues with it as well and the local hydraulic shop talked me into replacing the holding valves. Of course the replacement valves were not an exact match and I had a serious drifting issue after...

    How'd it go today?

That is something I have always done every time I had an injury or close call. I would mull it over and over in my mind for several days analyzing the situation and figuring out all the possible causes and solutions to what caused the accident. I think some may call it 'learning from your...

    How'd it go today?

Several years ago when I first moved to my current house, I set up my bucket truck on July 4 and went up full stretch to watch the fireworks from just over a mile away. At that moment I thought I was one of the most privileged people on earth!

Frustrated trying to impress the importance of maintenance upon my friend who provides me with half my work and parks his equipment at my house. He bought my F350 from me to use as a chip truck and can't be bothered with emptying it at the end of the day, never mind any maintenance items. I got...

    How'd it go today?

I accidentally took two days of medicine this morning. Took my daily pills and then an hour later I forgot and took another daily dose, thinking today was Friday. Then later on the job I was getting light headed and dizzy. I made it through ok but I really hate getting old and dependent on daily...

    How'd it go today?

Sucks. Looks like a water pump possibly? Radiator or hose leaks are more towards the front of the engine.
