There is no plan B In rigging. If it goes wrong you deal with the consequences.

Maybe tired, that’s often when sloppy stuff happens. Woke him up alright. He seemed ok though.

Groundy should have been to the side for starters, that’s the first and most easily rectifiable mistake. Actually Murph who pointed that out first time this was posted. Then piece too big, not enough wraps, climber a dick…

We’ve done this one before (big neg rigging cock-up) A lot to unpack, as they say.

Good pic that. To me, there’s looks to be some jeopardy there, hopefully that top is dropping into smaller stuff and crushing it completely rather than any significant trees that may provide resistance. Whats the backstory, why not a fell?

That seems to be the prevailing opinion (in reply to Mellow) certainly looks that way. A guy on Instagram who knows the firm said the guy in the pulling truck was listening to music instead of focusing. Seems odd to me that the climber would not do better job on an absolutely crucial cut like...

A difficult one to understand. Bad mistake. Happened within the last two months apparently. Homeowner is behind the camera.

At no point did I think that would work. I’m amazed the crane guy went along with it. I mean the tree has been brushed out a bit, the climber, whilst helmetless, clearly has a idea what he’s doing. So when did the two of them say “yeah this will work”?

Those chippers without any safety bar (from what I can see) are they still legal over there? Not an impressive outfit for sure, stupid way to take a tree down. Looks pretty hot there, even first thing in the morning. (I didn't make it to the end btw) Edit, I just watched the end, in...

He was really rather skilled wasn't he? Some rather unnerving stuff, going over with top, cutting through his strop.

I don't enjoy these things at all, I often choose to pass, being of a squeamish nature, but feel I should for my own sake. The impulse to hold onto a saw is strong, and by the time you have the wherewithal to let go it's too late. Hope the guy wasn't too badly hurt.

I had this winch on my Land Rover, driven hydraulically by the gearbox. Very powerful indeed. With a pulley and anchor I pulled over some scary stuff. What you don't get is speed, and that can be the difference.
