I will add a little note.
In his first pictures, Cary, had his tending line from the rear of his saddle connected to the tether on the rope wrench.
A little item that eventually bit him in the ass literally. When he leaned back, it caused the devise to release the hitch. And down he went.
IMO... having the over the shoulder clipped onto your tether to the RW looks like it could pull on the tether and create less friction by straightening/lifting the wrench should you fall backward. Seeing the tether is also linked into your prussic tending pulley, the pulley could also be pulled...
Key chain biner on that pantin is about all thats needed, eh Burnam?
Cary, I am wondering if your rope wrench should have a longer tether so that the angle towards you is sharper from above you instead of directly across from you.
Hitch for life support... Wrench for friction... Totally get that... Just wondered where your friction went to it should have provided in my mind. Why it did not engage. Tether position perhaps? Keeping it too straight toward you?
Never used it myself Gerry, I like the kick out ability of the pantin. I am just going by what I read here. Seems you have to reach down and manually move the cam off the line. There is probably a safety on it like the Petzl Basic or Croll Ascender. I never had the problem Cary has mentioned...
This was just too much fun watching this :D
Looks like he had some fun with it

Does it come in red yet ? :D
Seriously .. I need to order one with a pin sooner than later... I'm sold.
I use SRT a lot in trees these days. It still depends on the tree. I love the Ddrt and I will probably never stop using it. Each system really does have it's place in working different...
And also Cary.... I have been following your reviews on this and thanks for all your input on this new piece of gear. I was reading what you have over at Arbtalk as well.. Good work mang
As I have been working an F8 SRT set up.. I would really like to try the rope wrench now that it can installed mid line. Probably tends better that the revolver set up. I did most of that oak removal SRT until it was time to chunk it down...
SO on my list it goes. Probably just use some Ultra...
