One of my favorite visual memories is coming down that steep grade on interstate 8 from the San Diego side heading East toward Ocotillo. Right after a spring rain. The desert floor from that elevation was a carpet of color of blooms on the cacti. Vivid and amazing.

Finally got pictures of baby blue eyes today.

I love the small flowers up here. Often growing like a carpet in fields. Still tryin to get a picture of the Baby Blue Eyes this year.

Everything has been blooming early this year. Alpine Lupine went nutz but about finished at my elevation. Bachelor Buttons and Poppys now.

I used to use Fertilome for roses. It was a granular that you watered in. My roses always did well in AZ for it. Add proper water and pruning. Once it gets above 100F then they look shabby from sun/heat burn.

Oaks are budding here and getting that new sprout color in the rain. kind of reddish on the new wood when it gets wet. Lower elevation the wild flowers are just starting. Carpets of little white or purple. CA Buckeye is leafing out as is the poison oak and elderberry. Almonds down in the valley...

Yup. And we have frost all the way into May. Heck into June last year. Way too early for a lot of stuff.

Wow Koala, all that rain and now spring has sprung! We got late berries on the toyon, early flowering on the manzanita (which sucks as there are no bees out pollinating yet), horse chestnut (buckeye) are budding leaves as is the poison oak. Spring bulbs are starting to come up and some early...

I can honestly say that I have never seen one of those before... Very cool!
