That's interesting re the "west coast dogs". I've spent over 4 decades doing pro saw work here in NW Oregon, and I've never set eyes on a set of dogs configured that way :|:.

That guy jumping into the snow...I hope he knows there is nothing under it but smooth ground :). And the tree climber...looks like a white pine, pitchy as hell...bet he came away with sticky feet :D.

Hrumph...:D Ridiculously simple piece of cross bracing climb. Any caver worth a shit laughs, I promise you. I did more challenging stuff of similar technique at 15 years of age...300 feet underground, lit only by a carbide head lamp.

Exactly. Either by the bull buffalo, or by the idiot human who doesn't take kindly to advice from someone with more wisdom than said idiot will ever acquire.

Yup. I clearly recall watching a mid-thirtyish man walk up to within 15 feet of an adult male buffalo in Yellowstone N.P. and begin taking pictures. 15 feet became 10. This is a wild animal with balls much bigger than softballs. Horns on a massive shaggy head. Weighing in at close to a ton...

Been there, done that. And I will promise you, no matter how much it is the pay does not match the risk. Hell, I did it for GS-7 wages...stoopid me :D.
