Even high output chainsaw oilers are not even close to designed for the demands of milling, imo. You need to be right there with an old fashioned thumb pumped oiler can, adding lube regularly, to keep those long bars happy under the demands of milling. Like this... WESTWARD Oil Can, Hand...

Will the chain binding not pretty soon show rust marring to the live edge slabs? The hackberry looks like it will present nice grain, when finished.

You can do so without adjustments. But keep an eye on the plug...you may well get fouling and want to change plugs from time to time. Perhaps it won't be an issue with milling, as the saw will be running full throttle most of the time.

If it was me, given some of y'all are all about the potential to not waste the wood that comes your way, optimize a saleable product, maybe make beautiful planks, I'd seriously think about this mill...

To Sean's question...unless you are fortunate enough to have a second sawyer carrying a smaller saw (in these parts, a smaller saw might be a Stihl 046/460 with a three foot bar or so...not smaller in most parts of the world, but be that as it may :)... If the smaller saw is at hand, then just...

Beautiful long bar. Now be extra careful not to allow droop in the bar, held on the horizontal, when you squeeze the trigger. Thrown chain follows in short order, if not. I wouldn't think it a likely problem with milling rigs, of course...but otherwise, getting things started on a felling...

They are pretty slab cuts, to be sure. Worth a lot...to the right customer. From here, seeing the market around me...it's all about who wants it. Like many of the stuff I have put up for sale, I KNOW it's worth bla, bla, bla, or more! But the buyer end of the equation frequently seems to be...

:D No, actually, I meant he'd likely go out and buy a shut down sawmill, all 15 acres of it with 200,000 sq. ft. of buildings housing a head saw and green chain facilities, and a drying kiln. The Squisher Empire expands again!!

Nope...the way Squish does things, he'll be buying a for real sawmill. :D
