The USFS pdf link came up dead but you can get the paper from the Wayback machine: http://www.fpl.fs.fed.us/documnts/fplgtr/fplgtr06.pdf url into Wayback machine, I used circa 2012 edit - turns out a frustration of mine, that you can't save a copy of above pdf, is due to terms of use of...

Sorry. Just trying to help. Unscrupulous sellers say "cord" and point to a face cord and screw the new buyer. Pricing can be that ridiculous at times and the buyer has no recourse. Seller says " It's a cord...like I said" just left off the face part. Figured folks would be more amenable to...

Bush cord is just a distinction from the ambiguity of the single word cord. Around here common firewood length is 16", so three 16" x 4ftx8ft stacks, i.e. three face cords, makes a bush cord - cause you don't buy your firewood 4 ft long. Local rationale. Face cord can get messed up if buddy...

Looks like about 3 bush cords. Pretty good haul, no wonder the guy's happy. $400 a bush cord around here. Split and dried of course.

Was Morty involved in those Ricks of firewood? In seriousness, 16" long pieces in a 4'x8' face cord comes from 3 face cords to a bush cord, 3 x 16" = 48" or 4 feet, i.e. bush cord is 4'x4'x8' I see you and raise you one hogs head, a farthing and a gill.:)

I'm getting snookered by the odd piece of locust where it burns great as if dry for about the outer 1/3 of it's volume then slows to a crawl barely burning and throwing much less heat. Seems to need more air to burn the coals too. But long lasting. Some of the pieces doing this were split...

Every so often a frozen hornet emerges from a piece of wood brought into the house and is discovered the next day flying around the kitchen or living room. They are for all intents frozen solid -20 deg C, utterly motionless, and then thaw out. At least they can't sting you when you're handling...

What's everyone's plan for ashes? At one point I had a pile on the property to use as fertilizer, but got overwhelmed and noted a new grittiness to the soil where I probably overused the ashes in an effort to get rid of them. Now I cool them a small bit at a time and they sneak out with the...

I'm right at a junction where I used a good portion of a 2 bush cord stack the previous year, then rebuilt the used up portion with green and it sat for another year. So right at this spot in the pile it could be 1 or 2 year seasoned. Another about 1 bush cord stack got mostly used with a tad...

-22 C down in the GTA this morning must've been worse up in your turf. Then it's going back up to +1 before shooting back down. Volatile weather. I've just got into some honey locust either 1 or 2 years split, feels dry burns good but no greying/weathering at all. Bright as the day it was...
