you are correct. I just have to learn how to word it en espanol ;) i tried polydyne when i lived in NY, we had far too many rigging situation where we had to lock off the rigging due to target proximity. My hope was that the shock absorbing stretch would be easier on me and the tree. well that...

    August Hunicke Videos

It was def some experimental rigging. Since i've started contracting in Cali i've had a really bad luck with random rope guys, so much so that i've taken to lowering things myself when possible. but negative rigging wood is the biggest challenge, especially when the pieces start to get heavy/...

    Shizll rope slider

i have two on my doubled ended lanyard (not flipline, no steel core in it). work good. cheap, light, simple. they aren't midline attachable but you can thread a splice or stitched eye through. all in all i just wanted to try them out and i'm happy enough to keep using them so i guess it's a...

SRT to DRT in the tree?

if you can isolate, send a running bowline up. frog walk or rope walk up, using your hitch climber set up in the place of a chest ascender, as your chest attachment point (only for ascent, do not decent on your hitch without adding an SRT device or creating additional friction). ascend, reach...

    Rope Wrench/Zigzag

i've run this set up for a while from time to time. a small biner goes in the top hole to attach a tender. i like this alot better than hooking the RW to the top hole, no flop and it makes for a shorter set up. i find that the ZZ, whether DdRT or SRT is the best device for climbing with sappy/...

    Safebloc info

the Safebloc is not meant to be a stand alone lowering device, it's main purpose really is to reduce the forces at the rigging point by creating friction through weaving the rope in it when you're negative rigging something. this force reduction comes especially in handy in tall, or skinnny, or...

    Safebloc info

i'm gonna guess with weights that small you're probably rigging mostly with 1/2" line, yeah? if that's the case, as long as you're not negative rigging stuff, you can self lower or have the groundie lower pieces a bit above the 200lb mark. since the Safebloc creates more friction against larger...

New member with a request for the YouTube guys.

pardon the rant Corey, i guess i miss understood. i got hung up on the thought that Insurances guys would even care that YouTubers were making safety vids :P I know most of my vids have just be straight entertainment for entertainments sake (& to keep me from getting bored ;). i've tried to...

    SRT beginners ?

try theschultzeffect.com for copious amount of SRT info ;) i think the Hy Vee isn't really rated for ascenders, so if you slip and load the cams they will shread the rope. if you buy a new rope try to get one that's ascender approved

    Pfanner Man is back

i love the safebloc, i use it constantly, especially for larger loads. it creates a larger amount of drag/ friction with larger diameter rope. when i need a little more drag but the load will be small, down in the WLL range of a 1/2" rope, and i'm on a smaller crew, i'll use the mini porta wrap...

    TreeStuff Parties

i went to the Treestuff party on 7/2/16 in Sebastool. what a great event! tree guys don't really have an arborist REI to go to so if you want to try something on or hold a piece of gear or even see how it works for yourself the options of very limited. this was perfect for that. lot's of gear to...

    Rope-Hiker ?

so i hope i'm not sounding like "that guy" but i figured the info might be helpful for others. you have a great set up. i went to try it out one day and realized why it would only work for you and not me. the placement of you pulley! because it is at the same point as your tender and where your...

    Zig Zag rope options

Cthompson22 is spot on. New England's rope work ok too but i would go as far to say that anything above 11.7mm is too big to self tend well in the zig-zag. also, be sure to use a friction saver for best results ;)
