    Looks heavy.

I would go with no face undercut and matching top cut to make it lay flat, preferably with a saw bigger than 201.

Not a fan. Triangle works just as well. Can still have tons of fibre pull past that curf cut on the sides. Tear out no bueno.bueno.Worked fine that time on that species. Alls well that lands well.

    Exercise

M and I once were "forced" to retreat from a pretty cold and wet late summer snowstorm in the Idaho Sawtooth backcountry...on one of our long backpacking trips. That was 18 miles, full backpacks, snow/sleet/rain. Fording a swollen icy Queens River waist deep five times...the last carrying a 55...

Sounds good- box elder are pretty junky trees imo.

    How'd it go today?

Canopy raised and thinned five smallish/medium silvers and back Wednesday to butcher four large boxelder trees. Heavy lean towards the house, not in the best of shape, should be removed but they are park trees leaning over the lot line so cut back to the lot line and let them bush out.

    Exercise

@Bodean I'm going to sign up for a 50k in Maine in September, it's on trails and it's apparently steep. I'd be very surprised if I finished it but I'm psyched to be involved with an ultra and to see how far I make it, likely mostly my hiking/walking. The 25 mile cutoff is at 9 hrs. The farthest...

Cool info on rivets, who knew! I guess that's why the Empire State Building and the GW Bridge et al are still going strong. 1:13 length.

It was one of those, no rig points that would not smash against trunk, lady loves the tree, septic tank on north side between tree and house. Calçada is a tipycal type of floor around here, can not be touched by anything, due to being laid in a sand base, pipes under it precise location...

    How'd it go today?

There are caterpillars that can pack a nasty sting. They feed on bushes and trees. Friend went to ER with a sting. They asked him about using different soap.... blah blah. He finally got his phone out and brought up a picture and description of what bit him. Quite painful.

Looks extremely hot and arduous work. Why not just rig a couple of pieces of rather than ripping, slicing and dicing?

spider bite or the like sounds right to me. Don't let it get out of control.

    Leaners

I need to bring this discussion back to life. I am slowly learning as I remove a large hackberry with several leaning leaders. Fortunately there are high tie in points. Still a challenge for me as I have little experience with leaners or gaffs. I tried on top and underneath… and then...

    How'd it go today?

Spider Bite? am gradually removing a large hackberry tree over my parking area. I had cut off the dead branches that were most threatening to my van in a couple sessions over the last few years. I have a week off my day job so I am back at it. Saturday morning I got bit or stung by something on...
