I informed them of the situation, the roof does sag in the middle, they are aware. Last thing I want is to step on it and go through it. There are gutters on one side and they are clean.
If the vine is still alive, the oils will spread every time you cut and touch the cut area. It does not matter what season. I frequently climb and cut poison ivy covered trees/trunks but I do not wash my gear afterwards. It all depends on your level of reaction.
The amount and size of wood to move off site is a limiting factor for our equipment. There is so much quartering I am willing to do. This elm spar was still 30ft tall when I took this picture. Bigger companies can have big jobs. No shortage of trees in CT.
@cory we separated the brush from logs and left a path behind the fence. This way people can buck and haul away. In these situations we try to leave the site as convenient as possible in case we get a call later to clean up.
Derby. We are at 50% which suits us fine given the temperatures. Expectations are low between December and February so anything that shows up is welcome. I have a new engine coming for the chipper next week so the prep is keeping me busy.
Finished this oak this morning. Glad it is over. It had lost its central leader in a storm. Quite a back lean so we used the GRCS from a tree far far way.
Off topic maybe but the velcro lower straps as an upgrade from the leather "belt" style were a game changer. I briefly used the ski boot ratchet style but one climb in a sappy pine and they were unusable. Not sure how many people install the spurs/spike/irons/gaffs up in the tree but thanks to...
Tornado touched down yesterday. Client's pool was lucky. Broken walnut in the back, big maple in the front and big beech in the back. I still cannot understand how the pool remained intact.
Day 2 of the oak fun. Neighbor wanted the wood if it was light enough. So we ripped it and quartered it. Went well and we did not have to move the wood once it was in pieces.
