Got a good source for Stihl parts online?

For the 395 I recommend skip chain. It's all I run on both the 395 and 372. Since it only takes 3-4 minutes to touch it up, I tend to sharpen more often. Typically if the chain needs tightening then it also needs a touchup.

I have been wondering about Xcut. The regular Oregon is too soft, I know that much.

Got a good source for Stihl parts online?

I ran Stihl chain for 30 years. A couple years ago when I bought a new 395xp it came with Husqvarna x-cut chain. I liked it so much I bought a roll. Very nice chain, just about as hard as Stihl chain, very little stretch. And it is about half the price. Check out Stahl's, they sell by the loop...

Agreed, coupled with a too heavy piece and brittle/half dead wood for rigging points.

Any sources for Stihl chain? I'm looking for 33RS .050" 3/8" 105 DL. Amazon has one in full skip for $65, but shipping is way out.

The Humboldt is primarily for speed of production

I go for a shallow vertical face on valuable timber. 80% of the diameter across the face (if needed) not 1/3 of the tree depth. Very often can just shave the root flare - I try never to go deeper than the first cut the mill might take to "skin" the log.

The Humboldt is primarily for speed of production

A closed face creates a pulling hinge. An open face creates a bending hinge. And then there's back cut height...

It is pronounced "steal", right? Just with a German spelling.

That's a pretty spot, @SeanKroll. M and I camped there for several days a few years ago, enjoyed some very nice hikes. https://www.masterblasterhome.com/threads/off-to-camp-hike-southern-nevada-and-arizona.20879/page-2#post-899172

The mills and tree cos are the only log trucks. No independent trucks any more.
