    Stripped Oiler Gear - Cause?

The pour point of canola is -9c, which means when a container of it is tipped that's the point where it doesn't even move anymore. I'm not for sure that's what caused it to strip the thread, it's just plastic after all. I didn't notice the temps when it broke, but it does hit -40 here on...

Had a wedding yesterday, i drove so the wife could have some fun. Then the cats caught a mouse last night, and from what i could tell they divided it up so they all could play with it, so that was fun to clean up this am

    Stripped Oiler Gear - Cause?

I didn't run mine dry, and it's just a little abs plastic worm screw. I've since started cutting the canola with acetone and that seems to be the ticket here. I also keep everything in an unheated garage, so it's basically asking it to gel.

    The Official Random Video Thread!

Yup, there's standards for this especially for the European rating, it's basically a pretty long factor 2 fall (rope stretched above and falls 2 rope lengths, aka worst case scenario) with the expected size of a climber, done repeatedly until the rope breaks. The rope then has a number of falls...

Drop tests are performed to ensure that climbing gear can withstand shock loading and not kill you, pull tests determine the breaking strength, which is used in the working load calculation. Isn't that what you meant?

    The Official Random Video Thread!

Absolutely, force=mass x acceleration =mass x velocity ^2. Double the velocity you quadruple the force, the same force is needed to break stuff as the slow pull but it's possible with far less weight. Depending on the material and how big the shock load is the force could not have enough time...

    How'd it go today?

If i only had that back in my counterstrike days back at U of Illinois! Yeah that's overkill for most stuff, but for serious gaming that's where it's at. The guys in the room next to me with a shared bathroom (dorm) were both amazing at it, and were in the invite only leagues, right below doing...

My luck i would trip and spike my head on it or something. Years ago (before i was born i think) we had an ironworker fall from height here into some rebar on a bridge job, terrible to even think about :( that's why they require those rubber end stoppers on them now, at least pad the pointy...
