Been wanting to post about this for awhile.

Last Nov. before the TCIA Expo, my wife Heide and I had the chance to visit Butch's state of Louisiana and we got a chance to see Oak Alley Plantation along the mighty Mississippi River. Quarter mile walk through two rows of Live Oaks that really makes you feel small. These trees are only middle aged as well.

I can't imagine how hard it was for slaves in those days to work and live in that southern Louisiana summertime humidity.

Humidity? In November? Ha! Come on down around July - August...

But first, notify your next of kin!

Love the Live Oaks! They are pleasure to prune.

The VA center in Madeira beach has a cemetery with lots of old growth Live Oaks lining the grounds.
From what I remember it's the heaviest of wood.
