How'd it go today?

Closing out the weekend with some money in my pocket. Not full pay, but pretty close, apparently we even up tomorrow. Once I've got the rest of my monies, I are camper shopping.

Felt a lot better after sleeping on the plywood last night lolz. Almost no shoulder pain, and my hips didn't hurt at all. Another day or two, and I should be fit for climbing, not that I really need too.

Today we trimmed more pines. We'll be back at the same place later in the week for a crane removal. It's a very interesting tree, I'll make sure to get some pics. We also looked at another job, and got the green light, that one will be fun too.

Tomorrow is back to one of the jobs that was left unfinished, customer had company for the weekend, so we did other stuff so he could pay me lolz.

IMG_9060.jpeg Getting ready to leave work and I learned that the General Contractor (who is also the electrical contractor I work for) is bringing in a tree service to remove this tree that got harmed to death by excavation and earth moving. The customer wanted to keep it when they were removing other trees with heavy machinery but now they decided to do it after targets have been placed all around it.
My first ignorant thought was: I wish I was removing it. It looks like I could put a line in and pull it into the still unpaved parking lot.
Then while I waited for the tree service, I heard the voice of reason in my head. 1: I don’t have a clue where the weight is in this tree. 2: I have never cut down anything nearly this big. 3: I don’t have a saw bigger than a 545 with a 20” bar. 4: Where are the targets? Minny golf course behind it. It is being advertised to open Memorial Day. It will be a crazy push to make that happen. Any damage would surely prevent the opening.
5: Ditto the building on the left I have been working so hard on.
7: That parking lot looks target free… oh yes, the conduits for the electrical service in my little building, and the sewer and water right under the bucket truck! I can’t believe I didn’t think of them.

The GC sent a truck driver with a dumpster and a heavy equipment operator to be the groundies for the tree service. It was just the bucket guy with no helpers. They moved the dumpster right under the bucket after I took
this picture so he could chuck branches into it. The truck was from a well known national company so I was surprised to see him working without helmet or fall arrest.
They were starting at 3:30. Maybe the bucket guy was
moonlighting.

Spent a ton of money on groceries.

I had my Lyft driver say a lot about his homeland in Romania after I asked where he was from, and I told him I had been all around Europe (Austria, Hungary, Germany, Czech Republic, etc). I was wearing a pro Ukraine t-shirt as well.

He then told me how beautiful women are from Bulgaria and Czech republic, and I agreed they are beautiful.

He then told me to get a Bulgarian, Czech or Ukrainian bride because they are better women than in the US. He says they care way more about family, and Americans just want money.

I was like, "yup! I hear you" (sounded like a stereotype, but probably some truth to it like with all stereotypes). He said a woman from a war torn country would be eager to serve. I was like, "probably" (lol just agreeing to be friendly; another stereotype, but I'm sure there's a lot of truth to that as well).

Then he says, without hesitation, that women in America have too many rights. They need to serve their husband and family and get married young to a man (I was half expecting him to say 14 years old).

I was like, "I hear you, but I think women's rights are just fine here. " He laughed. I politely told him he "might want to avoid saying that to a lot of riders. Much of my culture doesn't like that kind of talk. "

He then told me how to find God by visiting tons of churches (of all different orthodoxes)...after I told him I wasn't religious, but pretty spiritual.

He really wanted me to find God and a wife.

Culture is so fascinating. Lyft/Uber is a fun way to get exposure to all walks of life.

Another day in the wood shop, then at 5pm a half hour drive south to a rural area to meet the transporter from Tri-State Bird Rescue & Rehab. Got to place this young Great Horned Owl back in the tree where he was found on the ground. Fun way to end the day. As soon as I lifted him out of my bag and placed him on a branch he hopped away about six feet up another branch, turned, and seemed to give me a look that said, “ Who the hell are you?!?” I left a half dozen mice and two rats scattered around for him.

Pretty much a day where I just had to pull the truck over and let out a roar/scream/yell.... It was loud. But, no one could hear it I am sure in the middle of no where.
While back I purchased a Mishimoto radiator for my diesel. All aluminum instead of the aluminum and plastic that came with it. Plastic part broke on the OEM, so this should fix it, right? Came with a life time warranty.
Fine for a while, then a little leak, then more then more. Been babying the truck for a number of weeks. Purchased one from a guy that was recommended down in the next town. Got a good deal. They no longer re-tank them.
Install went smooth till the water went in. Couple of leaks requiring me to get new fittings. One of the hoses was a tad short (thanks Gates), but I had made do. This rad was set up for two more oil coolers I don't have and the fittings were not the right ones. All fixed, holding water and pressure. But cost an extra trip to town and a gallon of water. Good thing I started with water instead of coolant.
Rob's pay got switched with my subs. Another trip. Phone calls about the event I have this weekend trying to reschedule deliveries. I was about a basket case by the time I got off the phone (and done with folks in my driveway) and left the less than a year old phone on my truck. Which occurred to me at 45 MPH down the street. Insert scream on side of road. Back to phone. It's trashed. I'm broke. All my shit for all the contacts for the event and some customers I need to get hold of are on it. Be interesting to see how I am going to transfer all that onto the new one. And no, the Samsung Share feature ain't gonna work. That number is also the contact for everyone at the event. All the paper work is in that thing since most has been on the fly not saved all to the cloud. Some is, but not all. Bugger.
Portable toilets delivery is finally solved. But gonna cost me a day at the range with a paint can after work tomorrow and Wed..
Just plain tired. Had to vent.

Crap

That's what I call impossible technology, and it is so fragile. Easy to break, and impossible to fix unless the factory spends a year on it. A notepad would have survived that. Maybe a good data recovery specialist can salvage the chip and extract the info. I looked into it because I had something similar happen.
