How'd it go today?

1400 would getyou some small injectors and gauges here, no chip.
we did 15 white oaks at one of our regular accounts today. im outta shape but still out did my crew:) rookies!

Yup, and most 300 six's would out pull 460's. But I get 14mpg loaded like that.
I wouldn't go quite that far but a 300 has some grunt .

Pulled a 1 ton special off road van ,and my 2700 pound trailer out of those southern Ohio hills with my old '77 F-250 /300 and got 14 mpg .Plus pulled those grades at 50 mph with over 11,000 on the azz end .

I've pulled ,on that trailer a D4 Cat that weighs 14,800 .I didn't drag it around at no 50 MPH though .More like 35 .

Here's a kicker ,my old '72 with a 390 got 12.5 loaded empty or pulling something .Figure that one out .:? I've still got that engine in my shop .The truck most likely by now is a bumper for a Honda or something . Ha anybody need a 390 with a 4 speed ?:D

My buddies shop does alot of mod work. Mostly all trucks and alot of diesels, he sells all the kits/exhaust/intakes/injectors/lifts/wheels/so on and so forth, you name it. I'm good friends with him and his family I have free run of their shop, and it's a surefire spot to have a beer on a friday afternoon. I've seen alot of ridiculous money spent on trucks. You can certainly make them as insane as your pocketbook is deep. Was just pointing out that the rest of the drivetrain isn't engineered in stock form to take the abuse that you can make a new diesel put out.

And was pointing out that I've seen a 5.4 gas with a bit of moderate work done to it really turn on.

Didn't mean to offend all you diesel pushers out there.:P

And if any of y'all ever make it up this way I'd be more than happy to race ya with my z, but on a real road, not just a straight line.:D

Eric 11.43 in the quarter out of that pick-up is smoking!

As a comparison my 350z will do it in 13.7 stock(which mine no longer is) and a mustang GT is just slightly faster than that.

Squishy, just do a search on diesel drag trucks. There is so much untapped potential in a diesel pickup it is unreal, and dollar for dollar, more HP to be gained. My truck would out accelerate 0-100, my friends modified Cobra, which was a 12 second car, and it weighs only about half as much. Yeah, you can break stuff, but it doesn't matter whether it's gas or diesel. 500 is nothing in the diesel world today.:(

sotc, injectors are $330, chip $550, guages $250. If it's a Cummins, don't bother with anything else, unless you are talking serious modifications. New exhaust, intercoolers, and such just make assholes like Gale Banks richer.

any decent sticks here were about a grand last time i checked. i have all 3 of the above and then some:D

What's the big deal with embedding it?

Dave as I mentioned before I know all about the new diesels. Impressive for sure, for a pick-up. Heh I'm redneck as hell but if I drop 50-60g on something and I'm looking for hair raising performance? It sure as heck ain't gonna be a pick-up. Pick-ups are for work and I guess if you're looking for some awesome straightline performance you can certainly build it with a new diesel truck. I prefer cornering as well is all. I'll take my gas pick-up to work and take my car out when looking for some thrills. :)

No need to frown at me man, I'm not trying to challenge ya or nothing. Different strokes for different folks.

Also if you're talking pure strip, cars are still the fastest and they ain't running on diesel.:P

fastest 350z I could find with a quick search.:D

All of this fast car and truck stuff reminds of the young bull and the old bull. I prefer to be the old bull. All of you young bulls.:D

Squish, the frown wasn't for you. When I built my truck, 500 was unusual, now you can plug and play a 625 chip in a Cummins in a couple of minutes. There are diesel dragsters in the 6's now.

I froze my arse off today, happily in the past tense. Bad mofo wind out of the east for a change. Now nice and toasty though.

You guys have these patches over there that you stick on yourself that put out heat? Good for about four or five hours. Been around for quite awhile here. Really cool!
