How'd it go today?

Just helped a cat get unstuck from a union in my favorite tree. There were a few small suckers keeping her pinned down. Got her out.

Can you spot the stuck kitty in this picture?

This cat was crying like a lil' bitch, so I sprang into action, and the birds on the lowest limb, out of frame on the right (some Rock Doves) were laughing at her audibly!

I have a habit of yelling loudly anytime I see a cat about to pounce on a bird needlessly in my apartment complex, in an attempt to mess up their efforts at murder. Didn't have to this time. Her own cries of desperation were enough to alert the Rock Doves and they scattered as soon as I approached to help the cat.

I think senseless aviary homicide is terrible, but leaving a cat stuck is even worse.

She was ungrateful and turned tail, and ran away. Showered my hands and arms with isopropanol because you never know what a cat has touched.

Tax collector send demands for my car and the Jeep, which has been off the road since '22. Not sure what her problem is, I sent money in January or February. Now I have to try and track her down. I think her hours are 7:00 to 7:15 Wednesdays every other leap year.

I've got ants getting in my house. Dawn dish soap and wster in a plant mister takes them out in seconds. This morning I found a crew of large ants carrying away the dead ones I had left in the sink last night. A little research and I learned that they were undertaker ants assigned to clean up the dead to protect the colony. Very interesting, I just wish they would colonize somewhere else.

I get little ants in my kitchen. Not every year, just most years. Lots of rain drives them in the house, and they stay. I don't use chemicals. One year I thought I'd keep wiping them up with a damp rag, and I'd run out of ants after awhile. Thousands of ants defeated, thousands more kept coming. Never saw even a slight decline. I now live with them when they come in. Keep food they like where they can't get to it, and think happy thoughts when I see my counter moving.

Ya don't get ants in the winter. Just sayin'...

Frustrating day at work. Office oissed me off so I made the day miserable for one of them. He had to come out to my job and set up an app and then do everything for it and then come out after we finished so he could finish it up. I’m not a tech guy and I’m not about to try to figure it out on the fly. Also I warned them about working for these people ( not the homeowners) and that I’ve never heard anything good about them. Not getting into names but I think all these kind of companies are scum.
My boy is starting the pre test stage for getting his yellow belt in karate this week. I’m perfectly content getting my ass handed to me in BJJ. I was told I’m a very frustrating opponent because all I do is play defense. I’ll slip a triangle in once in a while or occasionally a good choke. Anyhow I’m enjoying it still. A great way to end a less than stellar day.

Can't you just fell them onto the roof.
I've seen that done a lot on youtube.
Seems to be the preferred way.

Coffee grounds will make them move. Won't kill them, but they'll move.

I had to edit spelling. Why autocorrect decided to turn Coffee into Congealed is beyond me...

Sugar & borax water on saucers helps get rid of ants. It draws them in, they drink it, and die in a few hours. Hopefully they take some back for the queen. I think it's 15-30% borax, the rest sugar, and dissolve it in warm water.

Depends on the ants. There's sugar ants and grease ants. They also seem to catch on fast when food gives them indigestion, and they start to ignore it.

My flight over to Klawock today in a Cessna caravan. I'm putting on a chainsaw training workshop for some of our partners.

Murdered another Cottonwood yesterday, got off a little early. Ended up towing some young fellow's Tahoe out of the woods, and he kicked me 25 bucks for my efforts.

Slept like a baby, right up to my alarm no less, turned it off and caught another half hour. Need to get some insulation in that camper/truck bed, we're having a bit of a cold snap, and it's not fun getting out of bed in the morning. I don't want to insulate until I know where the leaks are and fix them, but there's rain in the forecast, so I'll get that figured out soon.

Nice neighborhood though lol...

I tweaked my back last week, and it was getting better, but I rescrewed it yesterday shortening grass. That was surely worthwhile :rollseyes:

That made it 'pretty sore', but I could still mostly move. I went to a job today I had cut some locust on last year, and there was an easy to grab log left I figured I could throw on the truck quick. I bet you see where this is going... The log was ~12"x4', and I really screwed my back getting it to the truck, and it's only gotten worse since then. The log's still in the truck, and I'm fuckin' miserable. On top of that, Spot didn't come for breakfast this morning, so I have the cat to worry about too :^(

Chiropractor? Or maybe just relax for the weekend? Regardless, feel better, John. Hope Spot turns up soon.

Sorry to hear that John. What’s your routine when your back gets like this? Hoping you see Spot shortly. Sucks worrying about our pets.

RV park willow, I think this one is doomed. What say yall? Lots of sucker growth on the trunk, and the top is dead.

Waiting's about the only routine I have. It gets to where I can move around after a week, and maybe 2-3 weeks before I forget I screwed it up.

We were talking about Spot disappearing last week. I have no idea where she goes, but a few times a year she's AWOL for a day or two. This is basically her home territory. I've seen her cross the street, and go to wherever, but whenever I look for her, she's around here. She's probably alright, but still...

I went out earlier to check for her, and do a property inspection. Just seeing what's growing, what needs to be cut, how things are doing... I was standing very still at the top of the hill checking out the plants, and the fox came from the front, and was running straight towards me :^O I don't think he saw me at first. When I moved, he veered off, and exited the property at the rear. I'm not in any shape to fight off a fox today :^D There's a fallen vine covered locust at the rear propertyline. I bet the fox has a den in that mess.

I'm no one to judge a tree's health, but with sufficient water, I bet there could still be willow there. but maybe not those *exact* willow. Cut them off at the base, and cultivate a nice replacement with a sprout that comes up.
