How'd it go today?

I got ya Peter.

I noticed yesterday that the wires in the oil tank were blueish colored. None of the aluminum wires were discolored, just the copper.

So I looked it up and aparently copper reacts and turns blue in an atmosphere containing Hydrogen Sulfide, known as H2S.

The oxide layer on the wires is moderately conductive, which might explain why the main breaker in the shed trips once in a while. If I had a good amp clamp I would test the wires at the shed and then test at the well. I guess I could see if there is a voltage drop too.

Good idea about coating everything in solder. I wonder if solder reacts with H2S?

Of course, my being terrifically cheap led me to bury an old oil tank, rather than spend the money on a culvert or a cement septic tank. The H2S will come out of the steel over time.

Jim, I think you might have as bad of luck as me. And the cartoon idea is great for stress. I watch cartoons with my 2 year old everyday im home. Teenage mutant ninja turtles, transformers, bugs bunny. All the original series though, nothing newer than 1990

Willard, I can't tell if you have a loft system. I'm curious, with your engineering on your trailer, what you have come up with for tool storage in your pick-up. If you care to, post a pic, if worthwhile, please.

I mostly work out of my pick-up as a tool truck. The pick-up goes along anytime i take my chip truck, unless I'm rolling solo in the chip truck, very rarely. I've tried many different set-ups over the years. Looking for new ideas.

Took over a friends Maple removal, and blew a hydraulic fitting on our new bucket. Fluid everywhere... hour and a half long cleanup. No pics, thank God.

Blown hydraulics on a bucket make such a mess!
Had a pretty decent day. Everything was great till I checked my phone and I was at almost 12 hours. I was in a groove and it felt like we were flying through the job. Normally not a big deal, but I'm trying to knock things down to ten hour days. Can't get anything done at home ( and missing to much) when you're not there.

Yep. But spending time with them. Honestly I really don't get much done but we spend time together. I really need to get some pics of the other stuff we do. I tend to not have my phone on me during that stuff so no pics. Hopefully I'll get a bunch this weekend. Going camping and plan on a lot of fishing. The girls are both excited. Ole preggers is not so much but she'll get over it.

I know Rich. I was just teasing you a bit.

Have fun camping this weekend. My kids love that stuff, catching snakes, fish and bugs and such.

You gotta be ready to tell the wife to think about how much fun the kids are having. Dont let her see you having fun, focus on the kids!;)

;)exactly. It's gonna be almost 90* though. She looks like she ate a giant pumpkin and still has two months to go. I'm getting nervous that maybe one was hiding during the ultrasound. :O

Home work for me.
The strikes against the new work law hit the refineries and fuel warehouses. It's the panic in the country, everyone rushing to the service stations to be sure that their gas tanks are absolutely full. So, that's the gas station's tanks which are empty now. What a mess !
I can travel and work for a week, but my buddy heard of the strike too late and can't find fuel anymore. No truck and no chipper available to work with.

One customer was in a hurry to get his big oak pruned (neighborhood sweet relationship !). 2 times, I made it possible to come on his own schedule, pushing other jobs. 2 times he canceled it. So why he asked me to work those days ? :X

Hinge Porn from this morning. Ribbons are trees to try and save

I got to do some spraying today, then another rain. My organic ground got 1.5 inches or rain in 20 minutes.

Ah, well. I am nothing if not stubborn, gonna keep going!

Father in Law got here today, so I am probably going to pick up some new and exciting Kiwi slang.

Sister is getting married again, this fellow is not too bad. I did not get invited! They had a change of plans and did invite the folks though. Nice of them.

Had a small stump to grind, turned out it was larger than small, at the bottom of a hill. Tons of gravel and dirt. HO already dug much out, called 3 other tree guys, didn't want to touch it. Just hosed off the stump, made some good cuts with the chainsaw and 15 minutes on the grinder, got it 4 inches below grade.

One guy wanted to bring a backhoe in, the cost was high. To be fair co-dom manitoba maple each about 22 inches, Total root ball was about 36 inches, and had fallen over. Soil had much gravel, pea up to football sized, a fair bit embedded, and the hill is steeper than it looks. Water hose made the job easier, did more of that than anything else. Wedges to pop the chainsaw cuts, but the chain did find one stone in the center of the root, last cut, thankfully. One hour 20 minutes with zig zagging the stumper back up the hill.
