Hi all. I've decided that I want to get a newer, lighter saw. The 048 runs, but bogs down after a couple minutes. I'm sure it's a tuning thing, but I don't really want to put more time and money in it if I'm going to sell it. It does not have a chainbrake, just the springloaded handle. It seems to be in pretty good shape, though there is a small piece missing from the bottom back right side edge of the handle. Also, the choke lever/killswitch is broken where the brass end of the wire sits that kills the saw. I was going to set the brass contact back in and epoxy it but haven't done that yet. I'd like to get $450 out of it, but if you guys think that's high, please let me know. Let me know where you're at and we can work something out on shipping. I'm in Central Ohio. I'll leave this here for a week then I'll put it in craigslist at a higher price. The old Stihls seem to be selling for a premium around here.

Thanks in advance!

Zach

Never mind. I'm going to withdraw it for now. I took it to the local Stihl dealer to see what they'd give me on trade for it. They said it had a problem with the oiler. I'll dig into a little further and see what they're talking about.

It's the same oil pump as an 038 .Also if I recall the oil intake line runs out at the front of the saw which can get a little tear in it and cause it to loose suction .
