Terri and I went up to Jed Smith Redwoods to meet Mario and do a little hiking. We also went up the coast, another 60 miles, to the Rogue River. From there we went up river for 36 miles to Agnes, and the forks of the Illinois.

All in all 5 days. As I understand we just missed Willy on the Chetco. A fellow I know caught a 40 pounder there just the day before Willy got his. For November the weather was great.

Attached are a few pics of the sights along the way.

Oh yeah, the Douglas fir bark-fall was really something. About 100 feet let go all at once! What a heap!

Enjoy!

That is a nice run of photos. The 2nd one with the mushrooms is particularly stellar. I don't know if I've spotted that sort of mushroom before. Very elegant looking stem.

Here's a "behind the scenes" photo of you along the upper fern falls.

Awesome pics, thanks for sharing them with us. Thank goodness for those that saw fit to create parks and preserves.

It'll always be here, Paul. You'll enjoy it.

Terri and I are going to start exploring more of the Smith River watershed. There's much varied habitat and plant associations there, all uniquely confined, that you wont find anywhere else. All due to its unique geology. It's really rugged country, and good Forest Service roads to lead the way.

The moss-laden bigleaf maples you showed near Mill Creek are as spectacular as any of the ones up on Olympic NP. Autumn and winter in Jedediah opens up a better view of Mill Creek as a few deciduous leaves drop out of the way. The slow pace drive of Howland Hill Rd. is so different from the highway speed travel of Hy. 199.

What an incredible display of species diversity! I found several of those pictures intensely beautiful. Thank you.

Great pictures Jerry. Beautiful shots to ease my mind, before I head into the hell hole of DMV. Lol.
