Website feedback

Very neat and orderly. When I mouse over a pic, it highlights but nothing happens when I click on it. Is that the way it's supposed to be?

I think I can make them pop out when you click on them, that would be cool. The 'tree removal' page works like that.

Just glanced over it as well, late here. My first response was wondering what you meant by the bigger....better statement, but then I figured you must be referring to the size of your brother's company. I think that if you want to make a statement like that somewhere within the later text of the site it would be fine, but as the first thing that hits your eyes along with the nice photo, it strikes me as somewhat abrupt. I believe it's good to let people decide what it is that they are looking at for themselves, before making strong encompassing statements like that, even though what you are saying may be very true. It's kind of being in your face from the get go.

Very clean, I like it. Great snowy video too. Certified Arborist needs to be capitalized. Also there is a typo in the plant health care section. Missing an "is".

I appreciate that feedback woodworkingboy and I agree with you, it's generally a bit corny and definitely out of place there.

The home screen has mostly a generic (nice) picture. Get a treecare photo of your two, in tree, looking good, spurless pruning.

There is important stuff, 'below the fold', as in, on my computer, I have to scroll down to see the lower text line, below the picture. Move that up.

Video some hand saw pruning and roping down pieces, rather than just throwing them.

Get some rigging pictures up.

You offer low-impact tree removal. Do you offer other types of tree removal?

"I don't want someone who will only powder-puff their way around the tree and yard. I want someone to get it on the ground. I'm getting my yard graded with a bulldozer after the tree is gone."

Can you fell trees into the woods or only climb trees to dismantle. You will be getting jobs out of town.

I give options for as much or little impact as they want, as it fits their needs and wants. Its also is a way to say we can smash and dash, or we can treat your home like zen garden.

BTW, Welcome Ray.

Seems like no one else is having this problem but, for me, when I pull it up, it doesn't fit on the screen. As in, part of it spills off the side. It could be my laptop, it's a bit janky.

Great job though Ray, very clean.

Some notes:

http://www.smallaxetreecare.com/#!tree-pruning/z7joy no apostrophe in possessive "its"
http://www.smallaxetreecare.com/#!tree-removal/odsro scrolling images the cities aren't capitalized
http://www.smallaxetreecare.com/#!plant-health/omb96 no apostrophe in possessive "trees" or "its"
http://www.smallaxetreecare.com/#!newsfeed-1/rwbgg make sure you keep up on this. So often people add blog or news sections and then never update it.
http://www.smallaxetreecare.com/#!before-and-after/edqi4 I would try and visually break up these photos a bit more.

Overall I think it looks great. I think you can do a little more SEO by listing the services you do more often and in different ways. Adding in things like Tree Removal Longmont, CO and Tree Spraying Denver, CO...etc will help you show up higher in organic search listing.

The site functions well and is organized sensibly. The architecture works well and it looks nice.

Good work!

Thanks man, I'll work some of that stuff in there. This has been hugely helpful already.

As my computer is busted I cant view it there, so dont know what it would be like.

On my silly phone though, it seems a bit big and ponderous.

For a luddite like me, I like a page to fit the screen. MHO of course.

I haven't even really started the mobile version. The website builder does it's best to adapt the desktop to the phone screen but it's pretty poor looking at the moment.

Thanks Bonner, I feel like I'm practically illiterate after seeing your list of corrections! The pics are not exactly what I'd like them to be quite yet, I can never remember to take work photos. The before and after section in particular is bad. I'll do my best to keep updating it and make the newsfeed a valuable resource for our clients.

Captions would help people understand pictures.

Before and After
Before pruning, this hybrid Cottonwood, Populus hybridii, was rubbing the roof of the garage, and had been shedding dead and weakly-attached branches onto the garage roof and garden.

After a Canopy Clean and Building Clearance Pruning, this Cottonwood is less risk to the garden and garage below, more attractive, and storm-damage resistant.
Being ISA-Certified Arborists and tree care professionals means that we never climb trees for pruning, support system installation/ maintenence, or inspection by using tree spikes, which are for tree removals only, as they damage the trees.

Under the Credentials and Qualifications heading, you need to slip a comma behind "home"

Insured against damage to your home trees and other property.

Becomes

Insured against damage to your home, trees and other property.

It COULD have that second comma, but it's not required.

The thing I noticed was all the before and afters all sorta blur together. They need to be made to look more separate.

All in all looks amaze-balls

that "oxford comma" is now obsolete.

I have to get used to doing it, along with this, that, and the other.

Wow, thanks everyone for the feedback, this should be very helpful to us.
